Toni Cornell, the 17-year-old daughter of rock icon Chris Cornell, paid tribute to her father with a touching new cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”.

Toni Cornell performed the emotional recovery – which was recorded by her father before his death and released on the posthumous album “No One Sings Like You Anymore” – live on Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon Friday (December 17). Check it out below:
Toni took to Instagram to share a brief snippet from the cover, saying the performance was “in honor of my dad to celebrate his two new Grammy nominations! Dad I’m so honored and I hope I am. made you proud “.
Vicky, Toni’s mom and Chris Cornell’s widow, commented, “Dad and I are so proud of you! Your strength, beauty, love and kindness shine from within. You are so loved “.
Chris Cornell recorded a cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” before his death in 2017. A posthumous album, “No One Sings Like You Anymore”, featuring covers recorded in 2016 by singer Soundgarden and Audioslave was released in December 2020.
“No One Sings Like You Anymore” received two Grammy Award nominations. The cover record will compete for Best Rock Album at the 2022 ceremony, while her version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” will vie for Best Rock Performance.
Earlier this year, Chris’ widow Vicky confirmed that the Cornell Estate was planning to release a second volume of covers the late singer recorded before his death. According to Vicky, the second cover album was mastered by Chris, but not sequenced. The album’s release date has yet to be announced.
